Keep the hangar running smoothly and help Airbus engineers focus on what they do best.
Guidant Global is recruiting a Stores Assistant to join Airbus at Shawbury. This is a hands-on, on-site role supporting licensed Aircraft Engineers and Technicians in an active aircraft hangar. You will make sure the parts, tools and materials they need are in the right place at the right time, and that their working area stays clean, safe and free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD).
You will work in an active hangar environment, so expect noise, industrial fluids and aircraft maintenance activity. You will wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety footwear, eye protection and ear protection.
What You'll Be Doing Engineering and Material Support
Gathering, staging and delivering parts, consumables, hardware and tools to mechanics in active bays, before and during maintenance shifts
Organising project kits and making sure hardware packages are complete and assigned to the correct bay or aircraft project
Returning used, specialised tools to the tool crib and logging them back in according to standard operating procedures
Acting as the key link between the parts stores, the tool room and the bay floor, keeping engineer downtime to a minimum
Bay Housekeeping and FOD Control
Keeping designated maintenance bays, work benches, shadow boards and tool carts clean, organised and free of hazards
Continuously sweeping, inspecting and removing FOD in the immediate workspace of the bay
Disposing of waste, scrap material and hazardous consumables (such as rags and sealants) in line with safety and environmental protocols
Wiping down support equipment, including ladders, maintenance stands and ground power units, so it stays clean and operational
What We're Looking For Essential
A high awareness of safety protocols, especially tool accountability and FOD control
The ability to stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly throughout the shift
Clear communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with engineers, stores personnel and supervisors
A strong self-starter who can anticipate engineers' needs and keep the work area tidy without constant supervision
A DBS check
Desirable
Previous experience in an industrial, warehouse, automotive or aviation environment
No formal qualifications are required. Experience matters more, and entry-level candidates with strong organisational skills will be considered.
