Core activities at Airbus in Broughton include wing skin milling, stringer manufacture, full wing equipping and wing box assembly as well as various other manufacturing and engineering roles. Support functions such as procurement, HR, payroll and finance are also based here.
The Filton site is responsible for wing assembly and equipping of the A400M multi-role airlifter. Other areas of focus include design, engineering and support for Airbus wings, fuel systems and landing gear integration. The site at Broughton design, test and manufacture the wings for all Airbus’ commercial aircraft with the exception of the A220, directly sustaining about 9,000 UK jobs.
It is home to a workforce of some 6,000 Airbus highly skilled personnel and has a proud tradition of aerospace manufacturing dating back 80 years, having produced aviation classics such as the Wellington and Lancaster, and De Havilland’s Mosquito and Comet.
